Pentatonic

The pentatonic scale is a five note scale that is common in many types of music from a variety of cultures.

You've used pentatonic scales already in previous lessons. This particular flavor of pentatonic is called the minor pentatonic, and can be constructed by removing the second and sixth notes from the minor scale.

If you've ever played piano, you may have discovered the minor pentatonic by accident: you can build the scale using only the black keys, starting on D♯/E♭:
